Metabolic Syndrome
Before I came across the video that I posted yesterday, I didn’t know what metabolic syndrome symptoms where before, or much about metabolic syndrome itself but now that I do I want to share the information with you as knowing and understanding about it could be what you need to kick start you into losing your belly fat and get serious about losing weight.
The Symptoms
There are 5 main symptoms of metabolic syndrome and they are as follows
- Waist measurement of over 140cm (approx 40 inches) for men or 88cm (approx 35 inches) for women
- Blood pressure greater than or equal to 130/85
- Triglyceride levels equal to or over 1.7mmol/l
- Glucose level that is equal to or over 6mmol/l
- HDL cholesterol of less or equal 1.0mmol/l in men and 1.3mmol/l in women
However do not worry if you only have one of these as it is normally 3 out of the 5 when you are looking at metabolic syndrome occurring.
So why is metabolic syndrome a risk? Well the answer to that is that you are vastly increasing your chances of developing type 2 diabetes, which although treatable can be a nasty condition which has let to blindness, amputation and death in some cases. Another risk to factor in is that it also increases your chances of heart disease as well.
And the biggest link to all of this? The fat stored around your belly, because this is reported to lead to insulin resistance which causes the onset of diabetes.
So, make sure you find a diet plan to help you lose belly fat and you will be on the right steps to a healthier you.
